about

Imagine a garden that is yours. It’s with you wherever you go. You store parts of yourself in there.
Referencing a garden has resurfaced throughout all of my releases whether that be through the title of my very first album called ‘Garden of Mission’ & song title ‘Blossom Dead’ which both grew to become phrases used in many songs to follow, or through song lyrics reflecting on the garden’s state of being. On my release 'Girl in the city’ the flowers had “turned to stone”. On the album ‘For What Began by Putney Bridge’ there are descriptions of a garden “grown out of sync” and flowers waking up in the sadness of a flower being gone. On ‘Dublin like the Spring or Something’ I am “watering my garden”.
However. A garden needs thorns. A lack of thorns may cause trespassing. In some unfavourable cases it may possibly even lead to violations or thefts of sorts.
Divided into two intertwined yet different parts, this album explores who comes into the garden, who steals flowers, and who is gifted them by the garden owner. Who gets a special seat on the highest petals. And why? Perhaps admission rules must be revised. No discounts. And did you know that watering with salty water dampens the apologetic sweetness & promotes thorn growth?
